Dear Southwest Miami Adult Family:

As we begin the first trimester, I want to welcome all new and returning students. The trimester begins on August 24and will continue until December 17. Southwest Adult provides a wide variety of programs and course offerings to meet the needs of this community. For students needing high school credit or a General Education Diploma (GED), we offer classes from Monday to Thursday; there are even lab courses available for students wishing a less traditional approach to instruction. Anyone wishing to learn the English language, so that they may assist in their child’s education, employment or personal improvement can find classes available from Monday to Saturday. Southwest Adult’s Cosmetology program is known throughout the community and has provided quite a few beauticians to the local market.

Southwest Adult also offers the SAVES program. The S.A.V.E.S. program is an innovative refugee/asylee/entrant program that meets the instructional and employment needs of the adult refugee/asylee/entrant. As SAVES clients, they can learn English, obtain their GED, complete high school and/or train for employment, SAVES staff offers counseling, employment advice, and cultural orientation.

Last, Southwest Adult Center offers the citizenship course that provides adult learners an opportunity to prepare for the Naturalization Test. We have classes for citizenship on Friday and Saturday. Our teachers are very knowledgeable and use some very interesting instructional strategies during the class sessions.

As always, it is a pleasure to provide quality adult education to the Southwest Community. Please drop by for a visit, so that you can have our well trained staff assist you with your educational needs. We are ready to start you on a path of learning.

Sincerely,

Mr. Steve J. Rummel

Principal
